Professional, Functional, and Versitle. Jan 03, 2010 My old purse was just big enough for my wallet, a paperback book, and a few necessities. But, it wasn't very professional looking or easy to keep organized. I was also starting to carry larger (academic paperbacks) reading material with me and a full-sized planner. So, I set out to look for an inexpensive, professional-looking purse that would fit at least: one small academic paperback, my planner, wallet, small make-up bag, and the various writing/personal items one carries. This is the purse I found (in black) and have enjoyed carrying for several weeks now. (Amazon has it for a great price here. However, I was able to find it on a sale at Kohl's and used my member discount to nab this purse for a very budget-friendly $12.)
This purse is easy to keep things organized and within reach. The outer pocket (one button snap closure) is great for keeping small items handy. The larger, main purse area (zipper closure) easily fits a large paperback, planner, wallet, make-up bag, and several other items. There are two, small pockets in the front of the main area that are great for nice pens, sunglasses, etc. There is also a small zippered pocket at the back of the main area that is great for make-up or business cards. I'm able to carry everything I need in one easy to organize purse that is also professional looking. One of the other features I really like about this purse is that the bottom of it is made of a very tough material (PVC?) that stands up to being placed on the ground and is easy to wipe clean.
I was so impressed with this purse that I went back a week later and purchased one in tan/brown to compliment the black version.
The only thing I don't like and would change about this purse is that one handle (front) has hinges to fold over and the other doesn't. This makes it easy to get into the purse while you have it over you're shoulder, but makes it a pain to place under your knees while seated or pack in another bag. It would be nice to have hinges on both handles.
Update (June 2010): I downgraded my rating to three stars because I've now had to repair the lining edge by the zipper of my black purse twice within six months. The lining seems to be either too tight or not stitched well. My hand stitching is holding up better than the original stitching. And, I'm not carrying heavy textbooks or anything like that in this purse. This is from having a calendar, novel, wallet, makeup, and a few other odds & ends in this purse. I don't use the brown purse very often, so cannot comment on whether this is a common problem or is just happening with one purse.

Roomy and sturdy tote Jul 27, 2009 I love the purses in the Nine West collection - they are affordable and classy, and most importantly, practical. I have this in black, and even after heavy use, it has held up really well. The dimensions are 12.5" by 15.5" by 4", the top has a zip closure [something that is essential to me as I dread having stuff fall out of my purse]. The shoulder straps are just about right, not too long, and not too short. There is an interior zipper pocket which I use to store my compact and lipstick. There are also 2 slip pockets which would suit a cellphone and pens etc.
All in all, this is a sturdy and affordable tote that looks nice as well. I like that the bottom is made of PVC, it's easy to wipe off. It's also incredibly roomy - I can fit a hardcover book in here,a bottle of water,a small umbrella and my wallet. Recommended!
